
GAWW 2026 Quick Draw Event
Artist Instructions
Registration & Set-up
- Register: Email artwalk.sc@gmail.com or register on the day of the event. Include your name and contact phone number. You will receive a confirmation and more detailed instructions.
- Sept. 12th Check-in: Check in at the main Host Tent in front of Maritime Park (7:30AM – 8:30AM) to get your canvas stamped and pick up a map of designated painting areas. There is no entry fee.
- Location: You may set up in city parks, on the Harbor Walk, or anywhere on the map provided, provided it is not private property and does not block public sidewalks.
- Pack-up: Pack up by 11:30AM and check in at the table in Francis Marion Park (Front St at Broad St).
- Wet Paint Sale: Set up your easel and painting(s) in Francis Marion Park by 12 noon. Volunteers will be available to assist. The sale runs from 12:30PM to 3:30PM.
Rules
- Each piece must be painted en plein air (open air) within contest boundaries. Painting from photographs is not permitted.
- Participants must provide their own easel, canvas, and painting supplies.
- Limit of 2 canvases per person. No size restrictions.
- All artists must register and check in to get their canvas stamped prior to beginning any work.
- Sales: Set your own price. GAWW will provide title cards and retain a 25% commission on any sales.
Awards: Judges will select a “Best Quick Draw” winner. The winner will be announced and awarded at the Sunday reception at The George Hotel (605 Front St). Artists are invited to return Sunday for a “Paint the Town” open paint event.
